In 2012 Equine Wellness magazine asked me to write an article on training tools. For those of us who deeply love horses, we are aware of the horrific abuse that goes on in the horse industry. However, one must question if the abuse is actually caused by the training tool itself. Yes, there are “tools” that should never come into the vicinity of a horse. The fact of the matter is it’s not the training tool itself that causes abuse.
This article gave me an opportunity to put things in perspective for those on either side of the extreme of this topic. Extremes exist on this subject and I’ve witnessed both sides. I’ve seen things that I pray you never experience yourself.
